Ransomware - A Nuisance or Critical Problem?

This session will assess whether organisations should regard ransomware as a passing nuisance or a critical problem by looking at how ransomware manifests across cybercrime, hacktivism and nation-state sponsored hacking. Opening with discussion on the developing cyber-extortion threat, the talk will concentrate on why you should be paying attention to ransomware, both at home and in the workplace. Insight into the ransomware business model will offer the audience an understanding of the reasons behind the proliferation of the ransomware market in the criminal underground. Furthermore, recent case-studies will illustrate the impact of multi-purpose ransomware, dissecting the development, deployment, distribution and monetization of ransom malware and how the risk  to organizations varies according to intent. Discussion on future-trends, cost concerns and high-level mitigations will conclude and leave you questioning whether your organisation is prepared for the cyber-extortion threat.

Panel: Ethics & Privacy: Rethinking the Good and Bad of Customer Data

We all know that customer data is an invaluable asset. It’s how companies provide us tailored services. But it also poses tremendous business and regulatory risk if used improperly. GDPR is the latest headline around storage and use of personal data, but it is simply a checklist for minimum requirements to meet regulations on data management. Instead of a compliance approach, we think companies need to consider ethical data use—the why and how personal data should be collected, stored, and used.

2017 Cyber Security School Challenge Arizona!

Join us on Friday in Arizona for an amazing cause! Men & Women Welcome!

*You do not have to be a pariticpant of the national conference to volunteer.

Since 2009, a number of women who attend the EWF national conference take time out of their day to help educate children about cybersecurity and online safety. It is a wonderful experience and great way to give back to the local Scottsdale/Phoenix community.

For those of you interested in participating, registration is available in the main conference registration form. Help us spread good online practices and an anti-bullying message to impressionable grade school and middle school children.

Sign-up is available during the conference registration process. Details on what to be prepared for are coming soon!

*If you are not attending the conference, we still would love your participation! You can sign-up at http://www.ewf-usa.com/event/cssc17*
